The Earth Space Sustainability Initiative (ESSI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Cheng as a Board Director.
Michael Cheng, who has been a member of the ESSI Advisory Board since January 2024, is based in the United States and is Chief Product Officer at Aalyria. He is renowned for building valuable open-source ecosystems, including GraphQL, Magma, Diem and ML Commons. Michael was formerly a product manager at Meta, network engineer and M&A attorney, and is involved in a range of diversity initiatives.
ESSI Director, Joanne Wheeler, said: “I’m delighted that Michael has accepted a Directorship with ESSI. Since joining the Advisory Board last year, he has been a dynamic advocate for ESSI, raising awareness of our overarching goal of ensuring space continues to support the environmental, economic and scientific interests of current and future generations."
