What ESSI Does

The Earth∞Space Sustainability Initiative brings together industry, academia, governments and international organisations with the finance and insurance communities to ensure that space continues to support the environmental, economic and scientific interests of current and future generations.

To achieve these goals, the Earth∞Space Sustainability Initiative will develop sets of Space Sustainability Principles (SSP) that will facilitate the establishment of the Space Sustainability Standards through the British Standards Institution (BSI). These will be the global, transparent Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) space sustainability standards, recognised by the finance and insurance communities and internationally by policy makers.

In developing the SSPs through a wide ranging dialogue, ESSI will listen to a diverse set of opinions from across the space sector. It will access commercial, industrial, academic and cultural considerations. In this way, it will endeavour to make sure that its sets of Space Sustainability Principles are based upon common human values.
